KAN sets a new standard in Sustainable Planning, Bio-architecture and Real Estate in Tulum.
Kan is designed for people who are concerned about the quality of the soil, the purity of the food they eat and the water they drink. The ideals of sustainability and regenerative systems exist in every corner of the project and it’s not just an abstract concept.
Kan acknowledges every aspect of sustainability, from design, to construction to operations to ensure a holistic and transparent investment.
The soul of Kan remains tied to the meticulous planning and fanatical attention to detail that the developers and designers lavished on every aspect of the project.
Kan Chaak comprises 18 exclusive units nestled in the mayan jungle.
With its minimalist bedrooms, cosy en-suite bathrooms and outdoor terraces, the Kan’s concept has set a new bar for modern hotels in the region. Hidden away among the surrounding groves of vines and palms are the suites – capacious cocoons named Tree-Houses encased in bamboo whose interiors are dressed in high-end fabrics and customised furniture, ushering in a new era of luxury resorts that fed an insatiable appetite for faraway cultures and an appreciation of the creative and elegant in life.

KAN is designed to be a place where you can spend your days wallowing in its infinity pool and cenote and cosy wellness center and fitness suite, followed by an evening cocktail on the stone lounge, which looks out across to the natural jungle before tucking into a meal cooked by your own private chef using fresh organic ingredients from local farms and markets.
Sustainability cannot be described by technique, by recycling, or by energy from renewables. The only way something can be described as sustainable is when people understand it. Kan explores different ways to integrate sustainability.
KAN’s state-of-the-art water treatment plant ensures the safety of the aquifer, featuring high-end tanks and Osmosis water recycling systems. This, in turn, justified niceties like purified water to drink from the sink.
We designed a beautiful bamboo skin for isolating the units. the plants growing throughout the skin capture carbon from the air as they grow, further reducing the complex’s final footprint, generating a negative emissions effect.
We created a centralized energy system where a high percentage of the air conditioning in the property is powered by photovoltaic cells concealed from view on the top of the bamboo skin.
Throughout the property a wide variety of species of trees and plants create a lush landscape environment decorating the design for which was overseen by Kan designers. Over 70% of the natural jungle has been successfully preserved using techniques such as tree relocation, where we relocated 107 mature trees.
